TheDanikReal/README.md

Hi! I'm Danik!

a random TypeScript developer on the Internets

My projects

  • yarik-beta - a Discord bot for effectively and fast interacting with LLMs, has support for using multiple APIs and models and switch between them with a command. (even though this is a LLM bot, I've been writing the code fully without any LLM, btw)
  • movies-aggregate - a parser for my local cinema site, since their site UI hasn't been updated since 2005 and looks very bad on mobile, I initially made this as an experiment for agents like Copilot (I used them to write code, but I reviewed it all, that's because I didn't expect this project to go well). This project has been indexed by Google and by far from visit counter this is my most successful project.
  • gxschema - a JSON schema for verifying and autocomplete on Opera GX browser mod manifests. (mods are basically like config files packed as extension, they contain a wallpaper, color scheme and sounds)
  • I'm also a developer of shorts-limiter, which is a Firefox and Chromium extension for limiting your YouTube Shorts screen time in case you have an addiction or something.
  • I have several abandoned projects on my drive (a sokoban-like game, a Rust library for emulating keyboard inputs in Windows and a remote control tool, which looks like stripped Steam Link clone, but i did it before i learned that Steam Link existed), however i didn't yet publish them to GitHub (also i forgot where one of them is located, i need to sort my folders & scripts soon, TBH).

Stance on LLMs

I think that using LLM as a full replacement (eg. vibecoding) to humans is boring and produces inefficient, unoptimised, unmaintainable and buggy code. However, I think that using them for general questions ("compare lru cache libraries for ts") or code review is acceptable.

Actively working on curing my OCD, which I've been doing pretty well so far. Coding for fun is somehow a part of my therapy :)

I use a very low-end laptop for coding (Celeron N3060 with iGPU, 4 GB RAM and a 500 GB HDD), you can be sure that my code won't be lagging on your machine if it runs on mine.

I've made this animation for bio but it looks weird, I think I'm bad at animating currently, will redo when I'll get enough skills.

My languages & stack

  • TypeScript - my favorite language, I use it both for backend and frontend
  • Rust - I use it for low-level programming
  • JavaScript - when TypeScript is not available, I use it with JSDoc
  • Astro - my favorite frontend framework, i know React, Svelte, Solid and Next.js, but Astro is better for me, due to its simplicity and performance
