The little status indicator in the corner of the favicon is too small to really get my attention, so I changed it to ghost the entire favicon instead when the conversation is busy.
This is part of a Shelley customization that I've been using for a while, but I thought I'd pull just this part out, to keep the change minimal and hopefully uncontroversial.
